Hi, I’m James — the person behind every review, comparison, and buying guide on The Home Picker.
I started this site because I was frustrated with the state of product reviews online. Too many sites simply rewrite Amazon listings and call it a review. I wanted to create something different: a resource where every recommendation is backed by genuine research, real data, and honest analysis.
Over the past 8 years, I’ve spent thousands of hours researching and testing home products. What started as a personal hobby — obsessively comparing robot vacuums before buying one — turned into a full-time passion for helping others make smarter purchasing decisions.

My Review Process
I take reviews seriously. Here’s how I approach every product I cover:
- Extensive Research: I start by analyzing manufacturer specs, reading verified customer reviews, and studying teardown videos and third-party test results.
- Hands-On Testing: Whenever possible, I test products in my own home under real-world conditions — not in a lab setting that doesn’t reflect actual use.
- Comparative Analysis: I don’t review products in isolation. Every product is evaluated against its direct competitors in the same price range and category.
- Long-Term Follow-Up: I revisit my recommendations when new models launch or when I discover long-term durability issues.
- Honest Reporting: If a product disappoints, I say so — even if it’s from a popular brand. I’d rather lose a commission than mislead a reader.
